Is there a difference between the Abortion pil RU486 and the Emergency Contraceptive Plan B pill?

So today me and a friend were comparing the RU 486 abortion pill to the Plan B birth control pill, and she believed like most people that there is indeed no difference between the two. However, in reality facts state that there is. I couldn't believe that we were having this conversation, because the action that the pill has on the body is within the name itself. Meaning, if it causes an abortion the term abortion would be in the name, and if it prevents births from occurring the term birth control would be in the name, however yet we still seem to argue over the differences between the two. So for you my friend and for others in the world whom are still confused about the difference between the RU 486 abortion pill, and the Plan B birth control pill here it is.. RU-486 is the generic name of mifepristone in the U.S., and is sometimes referred to as a non-surgical abortion, just meaning that it’s a medicated abortion. It is usually performed during the first 63 days of the first trimester, and sometimes by injection or in a liquid form (methotrexate). Now that you have the just on RU 486, now lets define what the Plan B birth emergency control pill is. Plan B One-Step® is not the abortion pill and isn’t a substitute for routine birth control. Plan B One-Step is an emergency backup contraception plan that helps prevent pregnancy after birth control failure. The sooner you take Plan B emergency contraception, the better it works. Plan B One-Step® is just one pill that should be taken up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex, and should not be taken more than 5 days after having unprotected sex, in order to effectively prevent a pregnancy. So now we know the difference between the two pills. Hope this helped you all and prevents any further confusion about the RU 486 abortion pill and the Plan B emergency birth control pill.
